| | Doug Wiggins specializes in the skilled conservation of antique musical boxes, gilding, furniture and important decorative objects in wood, metal for 25 years. This includes looking glasses, convex mirrors, argand lamps, sinumbra lamps. Doug has received training through apprenticeships and study with a wide array of museum and private conservators, restorers and craftsmen in the US and Italy.

Doug strives to educate our clients in the philosophy of conservation - the preservation of all existing original materials while integrating modern elements flawlessly.

Doug tries to spend several months a year in Italy working with artisans and restorers - gilding, chasing, casting, glasswork, scagliola and micromosaics, studying conservation and working. Doug maintains workrooms in Florence on Via del Terzolle. There are enough clock men or woodworkers in Italy, but no specialists musical box restorers in the entire country. As a result, Doug is developing contacts and working there as well. We are luckier here in the US and Northern Europe.
